[TW: Abuse]
Male privilege is this person (and many others that I’ve seen) excusing Chris Brown beating Rhianna because ‘it was 2 years ago’ ‘she should just get over it’ ’hes suffered enough’ ‘hes trying to move on’.
(Note that many of them are reasoning that hes only being “demonized” because hes black, but I’m sure they’d be saying “where are you white feminists” if people weren’t saying things because Rhianna is black as well)
Mod note: People definitely are only still on this because he’s black. Do you hear anything about other celebrities that have beat women? Tommy Lee, Eminem, Axl Rose, Mel Gibson, Sean Connery, Sean Penn, Gary Oldman, Charlie Sheen all never get vilified for their domestic abuse. So while I completely agree with how Chris Brown is being treated, can you really tell me it’s not any different because he’s black? White male privilege is people no longer vilifying you for your domestic abuse. Smdh.
